A 2023 study led by researchers examined the Fit3D Body Scanner's effectiveness in tracking body composition changes, confirming it as a valuable tool for athletes and fitness enthusiasts. The study followed a 30-year-old professional bodybuilder over 10 weeks of consistent weight loss, capturing weekly Fit3D measurements on key metrics like weight, waist and hip circumference, lean mass, fat mass, and body fat percentage (BF%). Results showed high reproducibility for weight, waist circumference, and hip circumference, with intra-class correlation coefficients (ICCs) close to 1.0, showcasing Fit3D’s reliability.
The study also found some variability in lean mass and body fat percentage as the participant reached lower body fat levels—common in detailed body composition tracking at leaner compositions. Overall, the 2023 findings highlight Fit3D’s accuracy in providing consistent, actionable data, especially valuable for athletes monitoring body changes during training or preparation.
